Ultracold atoms on a tight ring: interaction effects

In these lectures I will consider one-dimensional ultracold atoms subjected to an artificial gauge field on a ring. I will first introduce some theory concepts to describe all the interactions regimes, from weak to strong interactions, both repulsive and attractive: Gross-Pitaevskii theory, Luttinger liquid theory, exact solutions (Tonks-Girardeau and Bethe Ansatz). I will then provide some examples of the interplay of the effect of interactions and of artificial gauge field in these systems on the ground state energy, the persistent currents and on the dynamical properties.
